INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPIST BASED IN WALLINGFORD, OXFORDSHIRE, IN PERSON OR ONLINE

My Approach

I practice as a relational integrative psychotherapist. The relational part denotes as humans we are shaped by our social constructs, with our sense of self intimately entwined with our relationships. This suggests that if our relationship (past, present & future) inhibits or causes us hurt, it can also be harnessed in the therapeutic relationship – in the pursuit of growth and healing.

One of the founding minds of psychotherapy, Pierre Janet, suggested ‘every life is a piece of art, put together by all means possible.’ For me this means that we might have developed adaptations and defences that once served us and perhaps kept us safe; and we may later grow to honour these. We might have parts of ourselves we dislike or want to deny, perhaps these over-shadow our healthier, optimistic self; these too can be observed and explored together.

The important thing is that YOU are an accumulation of your life’s experience; you are unique, and so working integratively, means merging elements of humanistic and existential psychological knowledge and practice, so that our approach to your therapy, best fits with your mental, physical, and emotional health.

A final word here…. Trusting the process of therapy needs commitment, but in working together, it can yield insight, healing…. sometimes transformation.
